Sprint adds 111,000 subscribers, posts record low churn rate

Great news for Sprint today. I am big supporter of the local KC company.

Via BGR:

Here’s some great news out of the Sprint camp. In Q2 of 2010, Sprint added (yes, added) 111,000 postpaid subscribers to its CDMA network and had the lowest churn rate in company history, 1.85% for the quarter. This is the first time in three years that Sprint had positive net wireless subscriber growth.

Google Universal search features come to Android, iPhone, and webOS

Google announce today that their auto-suggest feature with universal search, which has been available on Google.com for quite some time, is now available for Android, iPhone, and webOS devices. Users can now type in a flight number, a conversion, or other supported entries, and instant results will be available in the drop-down menu (see screenshot below). To try out this feature, visit m.google.com on a supported device.

Now comes word via the Wall St. Journal that “those familiar with Palm’s situation” say that Palm is developing a brand new phone for later this year. This news shouldn’t come as a big surprise, but it’s the first somewhat official confirmation we’ve seen regarding a new webOS device. Given the events of the last 24 hours, this certainly comes as encouraging news.

Sprint Announces Tentative Date for 4G HTC Supersonic

Well, we knew it was coming - now it is all but confirmed. The HTC Supersonic will be the first 4G device in the U.S.

I was hoping that Palm would release new device sporting WiMAX first, but it looks like HTC beat them to the punch.

This is a huge move by Sprint, hopefully their WiMAX network expands quickly.

One of our solid Palm connects just dropped something pretty interesting in our inbox…

According to him, T-Mobile is in “final stages” of planning out their webOS device launch with Palm. Apparently the first device we’re looking at seeing is a Palm Pixi-like handset, but we don’t have much more to report on besides that.
